Evergreen Virginia Project Chooses Equinox

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Duluth, GA—July 24, 2014

The Evergreen Virginia Project has chosen Equinox Software, Inc. as their Evergreen support vendor. The ESI team upgraded them to the newest v2.6.1 release as part of the transition and they will move to the Sequoia platform later this year. The Evergreen Virginia Project is composed of 7 library systems with 27 service locations. Together these libraries serve 138,350 patrons with 814,000 items in their collection. Equinox also will provide additional training to members of the Project Team.  The Evergreen Virginia Project is managed by the Library of Virginia and Equinox.  The project is underwritten by federal Library Services and Technology act funds from the Institute of Museums and  Library Services.

Rose Schooff, Evergreen Virginia Project Manager, described the move as “Smooth, easy, great—every other word like that in a thesaurus.”

Shae Tetterton, Equinox Director of Sales, says “We have had a successful working relationship with the Virginia libraries in the past on smaller projects so we are very pleased to welcome them as the newest addition to the most stable open source platform, Sequoia. We look forward to a long partnership with them.”

Evergreen is an open-source integrated library system with an online public access catalog.  Its features include circulation, cataloging, billing, reporting, acquisitions, serials, and much more.  By using Evergreen public libraries in Virginia can be more efficient, and better serve and communicate with their patrons.
